We help these worthy causes

The Cyprus Samaritans

Cyprus Samaritans was established in 1997 and is affiliated to the International Network of Befrienders Worldwide, which operates in 38 countries over 6 continents.

Our trained volunteers provide a listening and  face to face support from our Centres in Paphos and Limassol.  Our Charity shops cover the bulk of our income; the funds we  need to sustain our service.  Volunteers work in the two Paphos shops and the one in Limassol.

Our mission is to provide confidential emotional  support to those who  are feeling distressed, lonely or unable to cope, who would like someone to listen to them  without being critical or judgemental.

You do not need to be in despair or suicidal to contact us.  Sometimes it just helps to talk.  We operate every day between 4pm and 12 midnight and our freephone number in Cyprus is 8000 7773.

PAWS

PAWS Dog Shelter is a purpose-built care facility for abandoned, rescued and abused dogs and pups. Cyprus Association for the Protection and Care of Animals (CAPCA) is the name of our registered charity (Charity Reg. No 1721).

Our mission is to offer our dogs a better quality of life and to re-home as many as possible to loving homes, thus making space for new dogs to be admitted to the shelter.

Located in Acheleia near Paphos airport, we exist solely on donations, fund-raising, sponsorship and money raised through our charity shop. We welcome public visits to the Shelter on any day of the year (including weekends) between 07:00 and 12:00.

Visitors regularly comment about the high standards of care and hygiene which is maintained at the compound.
As there are only two people at the shelter who are paid to oversee the dogs on a daily basis, we are heavily dependent on volunteers to assist in whatever way they can. This includes cleaning, feeding, grooming, walking, or playing with the dogs.

if you have a few hours to spare any morning of the week, then you could contribute to turning around the lives of our deserving canine residents. The work is truly rewarding and can keep you both physically and mentally fit as well as allowing you to meet new, like-minded people. To give you an idea of the scale of the operation, 12 volunteers are required just to feed and clean the dogs on a DAILY BASIS!

Taking that first step to volunteering – finding and going to a new place and meeting new people - can seem daunting. Please do not let that put you off – we are a friendly bunch and you would be shown round the shelter and would get chatting to some of the existing volunteers. Most importantly you would get a rapturous welcome from our happy dogs!
